How we draw

A rule we set ourselves

One outline. Three inks. No shading, no gradients, no gold. It sounds like a limitation — that is exactly what it is, and it is why the drawings had to be good.

Printed, not stuck on

Designs are screenprinted under the glaze on ceramics and fired onto glassware. There is no film on the surface, so there is no edge for a dishwasher to lift.

Calm, not cute

A panda sitting square. A tiger seated upright. A hare mid-leap with no motion lines. Cute wears out on a shelf in a fortnight; deadpan does not.

Two things you hand wash

The enamel tins and anything cork-backed. Everything else goes in the machine. We put that on the product page rather than in the small print. Care & Materials
